Lavande Sparkles

Last night in New York, my friend and amazing client, Tracy Smith hosted a dinner with Karen Elson and Sarah Sophie-Flicker for House of Lavande. Bobo was the scene for sightings of Jennifer Missoni, Olivia Chanticaille, Euan and Lucy Rellie, Kate Schelter, Ferebee Taube, Joey Jalleo, Holly Dunlap and Sylvana Soto- Ward. I was so proud to be a part of it…….

You can also check out Fashion Week Daily, Hollywould Diary, Papermag.com and Style.com for the latest coverage of the event.

PR Couture

One of my favorite websites and also one of the reasons I started Avenue is PR Couture. For those of us in Fashion, Fashion PR, public relations…..it’s a must read.

Yesterday, Crosby was kind enough to put up a post about Avenue and how it all began…. thanks, Crosby!!!!

To check it out in full, go to PR Couture.

amylagae.jpgBuilding on a fifteen-year career in public relations and special events, Amy Lagae has established Avenue Public Relations with the intent on taking her passion for media to a new level. In launching her own boutique agency, she will bring a unique approach to the industries in which she has spent her career: fashion, lifestyle, luxury services, and charity work. Ms. Lagae’s rich career includes positions with Vogue Magazine, House of Lavande, The Orlando Shakespeare Festival, The Henry B. Plant Museum and The University of Florida.

In her own words, Amy shares with PR Couture about her decision to launch her own company and the challenges she faced:

The biggest challenge [in starting my own agency] was finding the courage to do it. Once I made the decision, Avenue just fell into place. I had so many ideas in my head of what I wanted to do, services I wanted to offer, “dream” clients I wanted to land….. I just kind of set my mind to certain things and they began to happen. My best advice for those wanting to start their own firm: Believe in yourself and do it.

The logo for me was a bit of a struggle, which is why I ended up going with something very simple. Coming up with branding ideas for clients is easier, because you think out of their box for them without really trying. When you are in your own box , so to speak, it’s scary to let yourself out. I chose the word “Avenue” to brand my company because I love the idea of reaching potential clients globally. Avenue could be Park Avenue, Worth Avenue, Avenue Montaigne….. I wanted to let potential clients know that I can provide service everywhere! I am working very hard on a Paris office right now. It’s my next big goal.

avepr_220.gifI definitely want to be available to my clients whenever they need me. I answer most emails and phone calls within an hour, if I can’t, I let them know exactly when I will be available and I am.

Media today is so vast. There are an infinite number of opportunities for all of my clients: publishing, television, internet…. it’s boundless. If a client has a dream of being in an International publication, I want to have the resources to get it for them and I work on global networking daily.

In the end, it’s not really about being “different” [from other agencies], it’s about being effective and doing your best every day for every client.

Right now, I am concentrating on doing the best job I can do for my clients. Word of mouth and tangible results are my best advertisement.

Fashion Week Daily

I told you that you would hear A LOT about House of Lavande and Tracy Smith in the coming months…….

Check out today’s, Chic Report on the Fashion Week Daily Blog………

You all know Chic Report loves a beautiful invitation so we were beyond when this gorgeous purple jewelry box arrived avec the details for a super intimate (word has it only 50 lucky chicsters will grab a seat!) dinner hosted by Karen Elson and Sarah Sophie Flicker for vintage jewelry company Lavande on the 28th. We can’t wait to see who we’re sitting next to…Jack White, perhaps??

To maxi or not to maxi?

The maxi-dress seems to be all rage? Should I do it? Will it make me look short? Or are they kinda sexy???

I’m debating these two: one from hip designer Jenny Han the other from Julie Brown.

Both available from revolveclothing.com.

Twice the fun

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced today in Cannes that she is expecting twins! Who cares who wins the Palme d’Or! This is huge!

Plus de Cannes

For those of you who want to follow the Cannes Film Festival, here’s the link.

I am really interested in The Exchange, directed by Clint Eastwood. Looks interesting and Angelina is gorgeous!

Festival de Cannes

Preparations are under way for the 61st Festival de Cannes. My friend and photographer extraordinaire, Joshua Kogan ( more about him later) will be there and I’m sure he’ll keep me posted on the gossip.

Keep checking the Avenue Journal for the latest from Cannes.

Incidentally, if you are going, my suggestion would be the Hotel Martinez. Free Wireless, hip, chic rooms and a “plage” to die for.

Lovely Lena

I am very proud to represent Lena Hyde Photography. She, too is special to me for so many reasons. I met Lena through my friend Allison Hill when my son was born. She photographed him when he was 4 days old and those photos are probably my most treasured possessions. Lena is a special person with amazing talent. Please check her out when you can……..

House of Lavande

Even though I’ve been doing this for years, starting my own company was a little scary. I wondered, ” Will anyone call???” My first three “official” clients are so special to me because they took that leap of faith with me and I will always be grateful.

The first, especially because it was Tracy who got me back in PR at all. She gave a chance and an opportunity I will always cherish. Tracy is smart, beautiful, creative and definitely a talent to watch. It’s no secret that I am her biggest fan.

You are going to see a lot about House of Lavande in the Avenue Journal during the coming months. Owned and directed by my dear friend, Tracy Smith, it is a uniquely curated collection of vintage costume jewelry that has become a fashion sensation.

Tracy has BIG plans for Lavande coming up that Avenue is proud to be a part of, so stay tuned.

L.A. Story

Luxury Hotels for me are not about Frette sheets or Bulgari amenities in a marble bath. It’s about service. It’s about feeling at home. Luckily for me, my favorite LA hotel has not only “luxurious” beds and views, but a sense of place as well.

The Raffles L’Ermitage gets the Avenue Award for Most Fabulous Hotel in LA. Here’s why:

1. Christine the Concierge. I called Christine 2 days before we flew out to LA. In 48 hours, she managed to secure a color, cut and blow dry at Ken Paves Salon, lunch at The Ivy, and dinners and Mr. Chow and Nobu. She’s not only connected, but super sweet.

2. The Details. Full size baby bath products in the room, cookies and lemonade sent to the pool for my son, a phone call asking what time I preferred turn-down, courtesy car, and oh yes, the linens.

3. The Bar. Quiet, calm, impeccable service and Veuve Rosé by the glass.
